Renault Z.E. Smart Charge allows the owner of a Renault ZOE to manage the charging of the vehicle easily and automatically, to benefit from renewable energy and the lowest energy prices.

The app will automatically manage the charging of the car taking into account the energy demand and availability of renewable energy on the electricity grid. By carefully selecting the best moments to charge the car, it is possible to increase the contribution of renewable energy in the energy market and gain savings for the user. Savings gained by using Z.E. Smart Charge will be cumulated until the moment that the user requests for them to be paid-out. The money will then be transferred directly to the user’s bank account.

The application will use the vehicle’s connectivity and only Renault ZOE produced after 05/2017 are compatible with the application when equipped with the R-Link navigation system. The connectivity of the car needs to be activated and the user also needs to have an activated Renault Z.E. Services account.

How does the app work?

After initiating the app and establishing a connection between the application and the vehicle it is possible to activate the Z.E. Smart Charge system. By activating the Smart Charge system and setting the desired time of departure, the system will automatically manage the charging of the car. The battery will be 100% at the desired time of departure, unless there is not enough time regarding the energy need and the capacity of the charging station. Only if there is time left, smart algorithms will search for the best moments to charge. By selecting a minimum required driving range, the system will directly charge to this required level of driving range before smart charging the remaining battery capacity.

The Z.E. Smart Charge service can be activated and deactivated at any time by the user. If allowed by the user, push messages will notify the user, for example that the application is activated when plugging in the vehicle. Everything in place for an Easy Electric Life!
